Milo is a 15 year old cat who is very special to his dad. For the last year, Milo's dad has been unable to work due to severe health problems. Milo has been his dad's primary companion for this difficult time. About a month ago, Milo's dad noticed a large lump on the back of his neck. He took Milo to a vet who diagnosed Milo with an abscess. After several weeks on antibiotics, Milo had not improved. His dad brought him to us for a second opinion, after being told that it would cost $500 to repair the abscess at his original vet. Our doctor examined Milo and had strong concerns - the lump on Milo's neck was not an abscess, there was no pus or discharge, but it looked like it might be a very dangerous type of tumor. Since the lump was growing so close to Milo's head and spine, it was important that the mass come off immediately. That evening we removed the mass from Milo's neck. He did well through the surgery and was sent home the next day. A week later, Milo's owner brought him back in - there was a small growth slightly lower on Milo's neck that started growing rapidly after his original mass was removed. We removed that mass that day. Today Milo is doing well and has shown no signs of recurrance.
